Each year my photography challenge group will have a Self Portrait week. I decided to go with a "Then and Now" with my three month old self. The current picture of me was taken with a wireless remote trigger with my D850 with my 24-70 f/2.8 that I just got back from Nikon service the day before. The zoom ring on the lens has been stiff for years and I decided it was worth $600 to get it fixed. It came back like new. I set the camera to wait 2 seconds before shooting so I could hide the remote and then I had it take three photos 1 second apart. I used an external flash bouncing off the ceiling. I tried to mimic my 3 month self's position and decided to go without my glasses so you can see how little I've changed in 58.5 years. The background photo was taken at the LBJ Ranch this summer. I pulled the quilt off my wife's shelf and shot that separately. It always takes a bit to remember how to setup my camera for this challenge so that I can get it to focus. I eventually remembered I had to turn off back button focus so that I could half press my remote to focus - camera was set on area autofocus.
