028-Lazy Crazy Days
I took a photo tour from Anchorage to Whittier. While it wasn't booked at a private tour, I was the only person who signed up for the day and the guide was nice enough to run the tour anyway. The forcast for Whittier was mid-40s with high probabilities of rain all day. I wore a winter coat and brought along a rain jacket, rain covers for my cameras, an umbrella and towels. My guide wore a t-shirt. Guess I was a little over prepared.
For this shot, the guide stopped the car and asked if I wanted to walk around the area at Prince William Sound. I agreed and stepped out into the rain, having only a 20-70 lens with me. Suddenly I noticed a whale and wondered if I should go back to the car to get the 100-400 but decided it wasn't worth as I'd probably lose track of the whale. So I tried for a composition that incorporated the mountains and small boats and hoped I'd catch a while in there somewhere. On the whole, it was a good day of photography. I got to locations that I wouldn't have explored on my own. But normally when I'm cold, wet and taking pictures, there are musicians involved.
This photo was taken for a challenge using the lyrics of the song Lazy Crazy Days as inspiration.
